In this Fearless Networker Spotlight, we're featuring Nathan and Martene Wallace, a couple who turned an unexpected introduction to Network Marketing into a life-changing career move and thriving organization of 10,000 in just three years.
The Fearless Networker: Nathan and Martene, what were you doing before you got involved in Network Marketing?
Nathan and Martene Wallace: Prior to Network Marketing, Martene worked as a clinical nurse manager and had 75% of her master's degree completed. Nathan worked in senior leadership and coaching roles in banking and finance. We're also parents of three young children.
The Fearless Networker: So, how did you first get introduced to the Network Marketing profession and what was that experience like?
Nathan and Martene Wallace: Martene was introduced to some products at her best friend's wedding. She didn’t even know that they were Network Marketing products or that the profession even existed. She used the products and was excited at the results she had gotten. So, she started sharing the products as she knew so many people who would benefit from them. Martene never actually paid for products because of this experience. It was her passion and belief that lead Nathan to coming on board and leaving his study.
The Fearless Networker: How long have you been involved in the Network Marketing profession?
Nathan and Martene Wallace: We have been involved just over three years.
Nathan and Martene Wallace: Martene shared the products for the first six months and didn’t understand the opportunity, she just loved helping people. Then, when she started to understand the leverage that this business model offered and what it could do for our family, we went all in. After 11 months, Martene was able to replace her nurse manager income on a weekly level.
Nathan decided to research the company, products and profession nine months after Martene joined the business. Once he felt he understood Network Marketing, they made the choice to move the family back to Australia and build the business together full-time.
The Fearless Networker: How many people have you personally enrolled into your company?
Nathan and Martene Wallace: We have personally enrolled about 70 people into our organization.
The Fearless Networker: What is the current size of your organization?
Nathan and Martene Wallace: We have 10,000 people.
Nathan and Martene Wallace: Understanding the magic of the profession...that it was possible and real. And, the time away from our family, in the short term, due to our circumstances. It was a tough choice at a tough time but we made it work. There was no backup plan, no option but to make it happen no matter what. Essentially, life did depend on it.
The Fearless Networker: What was your biggest fear as you started your Network Marketing career?
Nathan and Martene Wallace: Trusting the process without understanding it. And, questioning if is was too good to be true. It was also the fact that there was no other financial safety net if it failed.
The Fearless Networker: When it comes to helping build your group, what have been some of the most effective actions you’ve taken to help your team grow?
Nathan and Martene Wallace: Leading from the front and doing what we want our team to be doing. Always be in action and attracting people like us. Having loads of fun, getting everyone to events, living in the trenches and help our team build.
Nathan and Martene Wallace: It varies, especially when we're traveling. We're always leading from the front, doing income producing activities and helping with duplication and training of team members to get them in action.
The Fearless Networker: What have you found to be the most effective means of recruiting new distributors into your business, and how do you go about doing it?
Nathan and Martene Wallace: Majority of success is in home presentations and online through a testimonial page. Living out loud, and sharing how to live with family, friends and what this opportunity has done for the community and have shite loads of fun along the way.
Building good relationships and coming from a place of asking lots of questions, listening to understand and seeing how to genuinely help people.
Nathan and Martene Wallace: We host online live webinars and always recognize people’s achievements. We also do a lot of team building, events and just have an amazing community. Essentially, people join for the products and stay for the people. When people feel appreciated, they will go the extra mile. We have surrounded ourselves with so many talented people who all have their own gifts, and together we are unstoppable!
The Fearless Networker: What’s one solid piece of advice that you’d give someone entering this profession for the very first time?
Nathan and Martene Wallace: Find someone who has what you want and do what they do. Don’t listen to anyone more broke or screwed up than you (from John Addison). Also, it's not easy but SO worth it. Push through your fears and when you do, there is a way better version of you waiting on the other side!
At some point you will want to quit and that is fantastic because that means you are doing the business. Don’t quit! Look within and get better.
The Fearless Networker: Can you share with our readers, how being involved in Network Marketing has changed your life?
Nathan and Martene Wallace: On every single level...from the people who we have become, the personal growth we've experienced and the abundance mindset we've gained, knowing anything is possible. We've never been happier and more grateful. We also have the opportunity to be surrounded by positive people and have friends around the world we would have never met without this profession.
We now have complete choice and get do what we want, when we want, with who we want. No more shift work, no more missing life's events and no limits to what we can achieve. We love helping people and being able to inspire people to make a change, to step into their potential and believe in themselves. There is nothing more rewarding or fulfilling. We get to give back on levels we did even know were possible.
The Fearless Networker: What is your favorite business book, or books, and why?
Nathan and Martene Wallace: We both love the GO-Giver series by Bob Berg and The Success Principles by Jack Canfield. These books set you up for a mindset of success and 100% responsibility...if it is to be, it is up to me! The Go-Giver principles are how everyone should live; the world would be a better place.
Nathan and Martene Wallace: Always be personally producing and treat your business with the respect that is deserves. Do something every single day and become the BIGGEST raving fan of your product or service. To attract the kind people you want involved in your business, you must first become that kind of person. The best leader you will attract into your business is yourself.
The Fearless Networker: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received that’s served you well in business?
Nathan Wallace: Don’t over complicate or change things that aren’t broken. Respect the business as if you had your entire life at stake (because you do).
Martene Wallace: Get all of your team to events, build event to event and match effort with effort within the team. And, have fun!
Nathan Wallace: Always come from a place of helping and providing value. Not everyone that crosses your path is meant for your products or this business model, but that shouldn’t stop you from being the best version of yourself.
Keep learning, laughing, smiling and loving. Life is far too short to worry about the stupid sh*t. Remember to only concern yourself about what you think, because what other people think about you is none of your business.
We all have an opportunity to be someone special and live how we want to live. It is YOUR choice as to whether or not YOU make that happen.

Martene Wallace: Be a good human! Learn the skills! Embrace the success formula and system that works. You are capable of anything IF you are willing to do the work.
Like Nathan said, the best leader you will attract into your business you. Think about how you are turning up. Be consistent and be the person you want to attract into your business. Like attracts like and energy is EVERYTHING.
When you go down into the "valley" that's a good thing; it means that you are growing. When things are not going how you want them to, look within and I guarantee you there is a WAY better version of you waiting on the other side.
Your success is 100% your responsibility, no one else's. Read the Go-Giver series and embrace its principles. The more people you help, the more successful your team will be...and, you are only as good as your team.
