One of my favorite books of ALL time that I have read countless times is The Success Principles by Jack Canfield. Just take my word for it…and GET it! It’s one of THE best books you can read on overall Success Principles for getting ahead in life.
I though I’d spend some time going through some of the chapters in that book and give some direct advice on how to apply these specific success principles into your network marketing business.
This ins’t a network marketing book specifically. In fact, the entire title of the book is The Success Principles: How to Get from Where you Are to Where you Want to Be.
I read it so much that it is literally on my desk at all times. That’s how much I like it. It’s those guiding principles, combined with specific strategies that lead you to greater success in life…whatever it is you do for a living.
In Chapter One, the very first principle is all about one thing: RESPONSIBILITY. Taking full responsibility for where you are in life at every level.
In other words…be ACCOUNTABLE! Stop the BLAME game! Interesting how this is Success Principle numero uno in his book!
How many times have you heard me say that before?? I say it like a broken record over and over again…because it’s MANDATORY for you to be accountable in order to succeed in life!
“Being successfully self-employed requires a high degree of personal responsibility.”
YOUR MANTRA: I am where I am because of all the decisions I’ve made thus far in my life. I take full responsibility for all that is me.
My business is the way it is because of my choices.
My body looks the way it does because of my choices.
My relationships are where they are because of the choices I’be made in those relationships.
It’s all based on CHOICES. My question to you is simple.
Are you making the RIGHT CHOICES, the kinds of decisions that lead you to success?
Saying things like,
I don’t have the time.
I don’t know how to do it.
…whatever your excuse are, they need to go night night for good. Whatever excuse you have…it needs to STOP!
You ready to dump your excuses? This post is about AWARENESS. Let’s wake you up a bit and find out where and when you’re not being accountable…and heightening your senses around it. The more AWARE you are, the more likely you’ll be able to STOP yourself when you get into that habit again of making excuses as to why you’re not where you want to be.
Try this one on for size…
In what way is making excuses helping out my situation?
The reality is…they’re not. Your excuses are holding you back. There’s no way you can tell me that making excuses is helping your cause.
Instead…make the decision to ACT differently, to make different choices around your current situation. They only one who can change it is YOU.
Are you living ABOVE the line…or below the line? Success happens when you spend most of your time living above that line…in a state of accountability.
How often are you in the position where you blame someone else or someTHING else for your situation??
If you don’t have the time…it’s because you’re not making it a priority. Apparently…it’s just not that important to you. Otherwise, you’d make the time.
If you don’t know how to do something, ASK. Stop blaming the situation or the person…and step up to a higher level of responsibility.
I don’t like the way the website looks.
I hate the color of the box my product comes in.
I was on hold at Customer Service for 10-minutes. They suck.
My sponsor isn’t available for me.
No one is helping me.
Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah. Blah. STOP it.
Tell me. How is complaining, bitching and moaning serving you? It’s not helping the situation. It’s radically making it worse.
You’ll succeed because YOU did it.
You’ll recruit more people because you took action.
You’ll be in a better financial position because you put money aside.
Your team will respect you more because of how you treat them.
Your customers will stay because you follow up with them.
Take 100% responsibility for where you are in life. That is your motto, your mantra, your way of doing this. It’s a MUST DO.
If you’re not getting results or don’t like the things you’re getting, pay attention!
For example…if you’re not recruiting people. how much time are you spending doing it?
If people aren’t attending events…what are you doing? Are you attending them? Are you registering early? Or…are you just saying you’re going, but don’t even have your ticket booked yet?
All complaints are a waste of time. All the excuses, all the justifying, all the pointing fingers…none of it is moving you forward.
Success is…repeating the things that work, and deleting the things that don’t.
Don’t just read this post and blow it off. If you want to grow, you need to be accountable for your actions. Step up to the plate. Take responsibility. Stop blaming others, the weather, the comp plan…or whatever else you’re using to make you sit on the bench, and get after it.
