I was talking with someone the other day, and they asked me this question...

"Hey Todd, does cold market prospecting work?"

I paused for a second and thought...

"This is a very interesting question."

I replied... 

"I'm the result of cold market prospecting." 


I was NOT a warm market person. The guy who introduced me to this business... found me from the white pages.

Now, this was a long, long time ago... but that's how I got started.

Since then, I've done a ton of cold marketing prospecting.

Both when I was in the business, and for my speaking business.

The #1 Factor That Causes Failure!

One of the reason people fail in this business is very simple... lack of effective activity.

People get caught up in their fears of prospecting.

Back in the day one of my buddy's created something called... "attraction marketing".

Some people thought, this meant not having to reach out to people... not true. When someone contacts you, you still have to reach back out to them.

This is still a form of cold marketing.

This is also known as outbound marketing.

A few forms of outbound marketing are...

  • Working leads
  • Going to events and meeting people
  • Cold calling
  • Cold outreaches on social media

This is all a form of marketing.

Understanding marketing is critical for any business... let alone network marketing.

The Basics of Marketing, and The Main Skill To Learn

One of the main skills to learn in marketing is copywriting.

Understanding copywriting, and how to write powerful headlines... is a must learn skill.


Because being able to generate interest in what you're offering is a must.

Bottom line is cold market prospecting works. I've done far more cold marketing prospecting... than I have warm market prospecting.


If you're just waiting around for people to contact you about your business... you're going to waiting a long time.

You must be proactive and letting people know you exist.

Having a multi-prong approach in your marketing is KEY. This means using the phone, social media, SMS, LinkedIn, face-to-face, etc.
