In this Fearless Networker Spotlight we're featuring Joe Garcia, a Network Marketer who is has an unparalleled commitment to his business and this industry.
The Fearless Networker: Welcome Joe! When did you get started in the Network Marketing industry?
Joe Garcia: I got started in the industry 23 years ago and in 1996 joined a company that morphed into a brand new launch of my present company.
The Fearless Networker: You provide a great example of commitment. During that time, how many people have you personally sponsored?
Joe Garcia: Thanks Todd! During that time, I've personally sponsored over 350 people.
The Fearless Networker: Did you have any struggles when you first started out?
Joe Garcia: Confidence. My lack of skills lessened my confidence in a BIG way. When I got started in the industry I was in my mid-20’s and my confidence was a minus 10 on a scale of one to 10. I recognized that if I really wanted to succeed and reach my goals and dreams, I needed go from a minus 10 to a one, two, or three on that scale.
What I had going for me was that I fell in love with my dream and recognized I needed to make a 100% commitment to being all-in. I told myself and my family that I would never think about quitting. That I was going to succeed no matter what. I didn't realize it at that time, but now know that I tapped into a greater power that we all have as human beings. That power helped me attract great people into my life and led me to the right personal development system and philosophy. My skills started improving little by little and overtime my lack of self confidence became my greatest asset, the realization that backed by commitment and action,we are all made from greatness and can do whatever we put our minds to. “God does not make junk” has become my motto.
The Fearless Networker: Thank you for sharing that. What advice would you give someone entering Network Marketing for the very first time?
Joe Garcia: If your goal is to develop a long-term, residual income it’s critical to choose your upline leaders and mentors wisely. You are only as good as the people with whom you surround yourself. For example, if you join a team in which the leaders have been involved in three to five companies in the past 10 years, there is a strong possibility this behavior will continue. Based on that pattern, the leaders are likely to eventually move on and when that happens, your business will struggle. That “leadership” will create a lack of belief in your team and negatively impact your business. The commitment I made 23 years ago to surrounded myself with the right people has been crucial in my longterm success.
The Fearless Networker: “You are only as good as the people with whom you surround yourself.” I couldn't have said it any better Joe. Did you have any fears when you started out?
Joe Garcia: Yes, I did! My fear was that I would never reach my goals. I knew I would never quit but I'd met many people, from all different industries, who were in their 60’s and 70’s that struggled with the fact they were no closer to their initial dreams than when they started. I dreaded the thought of being in that situation. It made me work on myself like it was a crusade!
The Fearless Networker: Is there any specific strategy you’ve used to grow your business that is exceptionally productive?
Joe Garcia: Back when I first started in the industry one of my upline business partners was a very successful global sales trainer. He had numerous best selling books and his sales boot camps were of legendary status. He decided to host a boot camp weekend in my hometown so I worked for a few months filling the room. I knew I would become an overnight millionaire by using his system and getting others to do the same.
The event was a major success. I was so excited and believed my organization was about to explode! A week after the event I was really surprised that there was very little sales increase. So, I decided to call this gentlemen and ask why my business was not experiencing any growth? He basically told me to wait a few more weeks; that the success would be coming. Well, that didn't happen.
It was a defining moment in my business life. I recognized that the thousands of people that attended the event all went home to their regular lives and their old self esteem issues, habits, etc. and never changed. Thus, they had million dollar ideas that ended up, for the most part, not being utilized. That was when I realized I needed to focus on helping people raise their conscious levels. When people increase their consciousness they become unstoppable leaders.
My whole business life and income changed from that moment on. This is the #1 strategy that I have implemented in my organization to positively and significantly impact sales and growth.
The Fearless Networker: When it comes to building your team, what have been some of the most effective actions you’ve taken?
Joe Garcia: I have always led by example and believe the greatest team builders lead by action. As a leader one needs to continually sponsor, achieve pin ranks, qualify for promotions, etc. More than any specialized technique, you will inspire your team by leading from the front. Keeping this in mind, I am constantly encouraging my leaders to do the same. When this culture is the foundation of your team then techniques such as driving business through hosting and attending events, holding team promotions, etc., create massive action.
The Fearless Networker: Do you have any suggestions for people to make Network Marketing a lasting and successful business to pursue for a lifetime?
Joe Garcia: I would not be where I am today if I had not made a 100% commitment to not quit…not even allow myself to entertain the thought of quitting. This was the foundation to my success as well as so many others that I've coached and mentored.
The Fearless Networker: What's the BEST piece of advice you've received that's served you well in your business?
Joe Garcia: Your thoughts create your feelings, your feelings create your actions, your actions create your habits, which in turn create your results.
The Fearless Networker: That's GREAT advice and a solid philosophy. Do you have any business books you'd recommend to our readers?
Joe Garcia: I have many go-to books. The one that I have everyone read and study is The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles. He does such an incredible job sharing the truths of the universal principles. Recently, I've read and studied at least 10 Wayne Dyers books including Wishes Fulfilled: Mastering the Art of Manifesting. It resonated with me at a very high level. I would definitely recommend it to those people that have a passion for manifesting great things into their lives.
The Fearless Networker: If you could share anything that would massively impact the people reading this, what would you say?
Joe Garcia: Wow! You've made me excited; something is stirring up inside me that I've got to share. This is going to be a long answer, but it will encapsulate my passion.
Why do you think so many of us are struggling? I believe it's because we have forgotten who we are; our true self that is always connected and one with God, our source energy. On the other hand, who we think we are, is how we show up in life. If we are struggling we will never be our true selves. Who we think we are comes from listening to other people rather than listening to ourselves. Early in my career before I truly considered myself a leader, I believed what others told me to believe. I believed that what other people thought of me was more important that what I thought of myself.
Living with purpose and working towards your goals and dreams is about focusing on who you are and what you can do in the moment. It is not about who you are not, what you cannot do, and what you don't have; who you are is everything. It is the only thing that really matters because everything hinges on your ability to be yourself. To do that, you must become intimately aware of the false beliefs you have about yourself and about the way life works. When you live focusing on your dreams and goals, you are connected with source energy. You know you already have what you need.
People who live this way are more than just positive thinkers, they are “attraction in action”. They accept that life is not always easy and doesn't always follow a straight and convenient path. They let life simply unfold instead of putting it into a box of expectations.
Your greatness is not dependent upon anything you accomplish. You don't need to prove anything to anyone, even yourself. I am here to tell you one thing…you are already great. To LIVE your greatness, you must know who you are and you must do what you can in THIS moment, nothing else is required. When you come to this awareness you will be unstoppable!
The Fearless Networker: How has being in Network Marketing changed your life?
Joe Garcia: I have had an incredible life! There was a defining moment in my career that really had me think about the positive impact this industry had on me and my family. A few years ago we rented an apartment in the middle of Paris where we stayed for the month of December. Paris is a beautiful city, especially at Christmas time. We came home after a long day of sightseeing and looked at my daughter, who was around 12 or 13, and thought WOW, we are in Paris at Christmas time! How many kids around the world would love to be here in her position?! At that moment, I was filled with gratitude for having made the decision to make Network Marketing my career.
I've traveled all over the world, to more than 50 countries, and the experiences I've had can never be learned in a book or any personal development program. I can go to hundreds of cities around the world and have a friend pick me up at any airport.
The freedom my family has enjoyed the past 24 years cannot be expressed in words and I am unbelievably grateful. My kids were raised with both parents at home and we have traveled the world together. I was able to volunteer at the kids' schools, chaperone on their field trips (yes I was the only dad) and be hands-on in their lives. There are so many blessings that true freedom gives you.
The Fearless Networker: Joe, thank you for taking the time to share your experiences, thoughts and beliefs with us.
Joe Garcia: Thank you! I'm very grateful to have the opportunity to answer these questions and hope my answers resonate with your readers.
