How to Stop Wishing and Start Doing

I had a friend once that always used the phrase, "I wish I could, but..."

I'd ask him to go fishing, skiing or camping with me, and I'd always here an EXCUSE.

"I wish I could, but I'm too busy."
"I wish I could, but I'm too tired."
"I wish I could, but I don't have the money."
"I wish I could, but I don't know how."
"I wish I could, but I have to mow the lawn."

Here's the bottom line.  If you REALLY wanted to, you'd do it.

Instead, he'd ENVY the fact that I'd go and do something...when he could have easily just DONE it himself.

I seriously almost made him a t-shirt that looked just like this... stopwishing

I see people ENVY the success of others OFTEN.

Envy is an ugly thing that eats away at your soul.  

Here's the definition just to be clear.  Envy is defined as "a feeling of discontented or resentful longing aroused by someone else's possessions, qualities, or luck."

Not a pretty thought.  At all.  In business in life, people do it all the time.  They WISH, they envy, and they make excuses.

"I wish I had his skills."
"I wish I could talk like her."
"I wish I had a house like they did."
"Man...that sure is a nice car.  I wish I could afford one like that."
"I wish I had his body."

If you REALLY WANTED SOMETHING, you'd do it.  If you really wanted to have better speaking skills, you'd speak or taking a speaking class.  If you REALLY wanted to make money in network marketing, you'd get off your butt and take action.  If you really wanted to have a better house, you'd save and save until you could do it...or you'd do something different that enabled you to earn more, in order to save more.

You need to turn your WISHES into ACTIONS.  Stop wishing and start doing.

One step at a time.  One action at a time.  One day at a time.  One dollar at time.  One skill a time.  One call a time.  One speech at a time.

Let's take this directly into network marketing for a second.

"I wish my network marketing business was more successful."

IF that is TRULY WHAT YOU WANT, you would do something about it.  Other people around you are doing it all the time.  There are people that are less fortunate, have less skills, less business experience, less of lots of things...yet they DO IT.

They have more of ONE THING.  They replace WISH with ACTION.   In order to stop wishing, envying and hoping...you need to start taking action.

The great differentiator is ACTION.  Doing something about it is what makes the difference.

You're scared?  So what!  Lots of people are scared.

I was frightened to death to make a call, but I did.  And...let me tell you.  The first 100 calls I made in network marketing were a joke.  I sucked.  I stuttered. I bumbled.  But...because I really WANTED it, and it wasn't a wish or a hope, I ACTED.

I remember being on stage the very first time.  I was literally peeing my pants.  Not to get too graphic here, but I was literally...let's just say, so nervous, that I had to pee, and pee, and pee, and pee over and over and over again before I got on stage...yet my bladder was empty.  BUT...I did it anyway, because I WANTED IT.

If you WANT something bad enough, and it's not just a wish...you WILL do it.  If you need some help, some encouragement...fine.  We all need a little something sometimes.  A partner, a buddy, a friend, a coach, a trainer...a group...someone who cares enough to help and encourage us past our frigid, frozen state of inactivity.

Find an accountability partner and work with them until you get past your fear of inadequacy.

Get involved in a group that encourages you.  I run them all year long...and for this very purpose for many people.  There's one starting very soon...and if you're not taking the kind of action you want to be taking, NOTHING is going to change until you change what you're not doing.  You can learn about it here.  More accurately, if this describes you, you should act on it TODAY and DO IT.  Stop wishing.  Start doing.
