Social Selling and How to Up your Game

What’s Social Selling and how do you UP your game when it comes to making sales in your network marketing business?

It’s the process of leveraging social media to build relationships, generate leads and close sales. That’s it in a nutshell! Pretty simple.

Therefore, social selling should be an important part of the overall strategy in building your business.  You can be successful without it, but you’re missing a big part of what’s going on by not being on social media if you’re a network marketer.

By leveraging social media and other digital tools, network marketers can connect with prospects, build relationships, close more sales and recruit additional distributors.

However, as social selling becomes increasingly competitive, it's essential to continually improve your social selling game. Here are FIVE ways to do just that.

Five Ways to Improve Your Social Selling Game

1. Focus on Building Relationships

Social selling is all about building relationships. For this reason, your goal isn't just to make a sale; it's to establish a connection with your prospects that will lead to long-term loyalty.

In other words, selling on social media isn’t that different from traditional selling, where you connect, build rapport, establish a relationship, identify a problem…and provide a solution.  It’s just done on social media.

To do this effectively, you need to focus on building relationships, not just pushing products.  No one likes being sold…but they LOVE buying!

To start with, one effective way to build relationships is to engage with prospects on social media by responding to their comments, sharing their posts, and starting conversations. In other words, show genuine interest in their lives and work to establish a rapport.

How many times have you heard that from me before? Be genuinely INTERESTED, not interesting.  Nothing wrong with being interesting…but when you show real, authentic interest in people…in helping someone, that’s real.

Subsequently, another way to build relationships is to provide value. Share helpful articles, tips, and advice that are relevant to your prospects' interests and needs. By providing value, you'll establish yourself as a trusted source of information and build a stronger relationship.

2. Use Data to Your Advantage

Social selling generates a huge amount of data. Every like, share, and comment gives you insight into your prospects' interests and needs. With this in mind, to improve your social selling game, you need to use this data to your advantage. That means you have to PAY ATTENTION to it!

With this in mind, start by tracking your social media metrics. Pay attention to which posts generate the most engagement, which platforms your prospects use most often, and which types of content resonate the most. Use this data to refine your social selling strategy and you will improve your results.

3. Develop a Content Strategy

Content is a critical component of any social selling strategy. That being the case, by creating and sharing high-quality content that people find interesting, you can establish yourself as a leader and build a loyal following.

To develop a content strategy that supports your social selling efforts, start by identifying the topics and themes that are most relevant to your prospects.

Are there questions they have about the business, products or services? Are there challenges they are facing? What keeps them up all night staring at the ceiling and being unable to sleep?  Use this information to create content that addresses their needs and provides value.

When creating content, be sure to use a variety of formats, including blog posts, videos, infographics, and social media posts. In turn, this will help you reach a broader audience and provide value in a way that resonates with different types of learners…some like to read, some like to watch video, some like to look at details, etc.

4. Use Personalization to Stand Out

In the crowded social selling landscape, personalization is key. Therefore, by tailoring your messages to the specific needs and interests of your prospects, you can stand out from your competitors and build stronger relationships.

To personalize your social selling messages, start by doing your research. In other words, use social media and other digital tools to learn as much as you can about your prospects, including their interests, pain points, and preferred communication styles.

Then, use this information to craft personalized messages that address their specific needs and interests. For example, if you learn that a prospect is interested in a particular industry trend, you could send them an article that provides more information on that topic.

FACT:  Based on widely available research, video generates higher engagement and conversion rates than any other type of content.

5. Leverage the Power of Video

Video dominates today.  You MUST incorporate video…either live or recorded video into your social selling strategy.  Video is a highly effective tool for social selling.

To leverage the power of video in your social selling strategy, start by creating short, engaging videos that provide value to your prospects. You could create how-to videos, product demos, or “explainer” videos that help your prospects understand complex topics.

When sharing videos on social media, be sure to use attention-grabbing headlines and captions to entice your prospects to watch. You could also experiment with live video to provide a more authentic, engaging experience.

Playing the social selling game can be a little exhausting.  Always having to create new content to entertain and engage your followers can be intimidating and become frustrating for most people. I know, I’ve been producing content for over 17 years!
