How to Be a Better Leader in Network Marketing
People commonly ask how to be a better leader in network marketing. Indeed, that is a legit question. So, if you want to know how to be a better leader in network marketing…I’ll make it as simple as I can for you.
First off…you’ve got to WANT to be a better leader and actually be willing to WORK on it. Consequently, actionable steps are what matters here. As a matter of fact, you’ve most definitely heard this phrase…“Actions speak louder than words.” In other words, you can’t just give lip-service, you’ve got to LIVE it.
I don’t have a personal quote that I can think of…although I’m sure people have quoted me on a bunch of stuff over the years. However, I've for sure quoted this one about the desire to grow and achieve success and it’s good; “Live it. Don’t just lip it.”
Being a leader in network marketing is much more than just recruiting people and selling stuff. It's about inspiring and motivating others to achieve their goals and reach their full potential. Furthermore, it’s about seeing things in people they don’t see in themselves. Last but not least, it’s about challenging people in a positive way to do more and become more.
A great leader can help their team members grow both personally and professionally, and in turn, create a successful network marketing business.
If you're looking to become a better leader in network marketing, here are EIGHT steps to help you get started:
1. Lead by Example
As a leader, your team members will look up to you and model their behavior after yours. This means that you need to lead by example and set the tone for the team. Subsequently, if you want your people recruiting, you need to be recruiting. If you want them at events, you need to be at the events. You get the drift. In summary, be consistent in your actions, show up, and follow through on your commitments. Show your team members how to be successful by demonstrating the behavior you want to see.
2. Be a Great Communicator
I’ve literally said this a million times…or at least something close to it. COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY TO RELATIONSHIPS. Period. Thus, communication is key to any successful business (or personal relationship), and it's SUPER important in network marketing. Therefore as a leader, it's important to communicate clearly and effectively with your team members. Keep them informed of new products, promotions, and events. Last but not least, provide feedback, support, and encouragement regularly.
3. Be a Problem Solver
If you’re wanting to be a better leader in network marketing, it doesn’t come without its challenges. Every business faces challenges and obstacles and, by the way, network marketing is no exception. As a leader, it's important to be a problem solver and help your team members navigate any issues that arise. With this in mind, be proactive in addressing problems and work with your team to find solutions. Because change is constant, be willing to embrace change and do it in a positive manner.
4. Develop Your Leadership Skills
You can’t get good at the thing you never work on. Thus, leadership is a skill that can be developed and improved over time. To do so attend leadership training events, read books, and listen to podcasts about leadership. Seek feedback from your team members and be open to learning and growing.
For this reason, I produced one of the most comprehensive training programs on how to become a better leader in network marketing, “Leadership Evolution”. Honestly, you should own it. It will absolutely help you dial in your leadership skills and you can get it here: https://ToddFalcone.com/leadership.
5. Build Strong Relationships
Network marketing is a people business, subsequently, building strong relationships is key to success. As a leader, it's important to build strong relationships with your team members, customers, and prospects, listen to their needs, provide value, and be there to support them.
6. Foster a Positive Culture
I strongly recommend a “No Drama” policy. Seriously…life’s too short for negativity. And, it’s all around us. You certainly don’t need it in your business. So…don’t allow it. Above all, creating a positive culture is essential to building a successful network marketing business. As a result, encourage your team members to support each other and celebrate each other's successes. Foster a sense of community and teamwork by organizing team events and providing recognition and rewards for achieving goals.
7. Be Patient
There’s probably not a person on the planet that hasn’t heard the term, “Patience is a virtue.” Why is it then that people are so impatient? People want it now…in an instant. But, building a successful network marketing business takes time and effort. Everyone needs to have proper expectations…therefore as leaders, we need to be able to manage those expectations. Consequently, as a leader it's important to be patient and persistent. Encourage your team members to stay focused on their goals and always remind them that success doesn't happen overnight.
8. Celebrate Success
I know this post is full of clichés, quotes and things we’ve heard over and over again. But…here’s another good one: “People will work for a living, but they die for recognition.”
If you want to be a better leader in network marketing, make sure to recognize even the smallest of accomplishments. With this intention, take the time to recognize EFFORT without accomplishment. Celebrate milestones, ranks and other major accomplishments as well. When you build recognition into your leadership plan, everyone wins.
If you want to be a better leader in network marketing, it takes work and time. Be patient, my friend. I’ll finish with one final phrase we’ve all heard, “Rome wasn’t built in a day”.
If you’ve never been there, it is MIND blowing. Seriously, for something of that magnitude built in like 750 B.C., it’s almost quite literally, unbelievable. So, how did they do it? LOTS of work and a TON of time. And, how long did it take? Historians say it took like 1129 years to build Rome. That’s a longgggg time! Then, for us to be a little patient in becoming a better leader in network marketing doesn’t seem like that big of a deal anymore, does it?
Again…if you don’t own “Leadership Evolution”, you should have access to it. It WILL make you a better leader…and definitely help you get there a lot faster than it took to build Rome.
