Groundhog Day: Living the Same Exact Day Over and Over and Over and Over and Over and Over and Over and Over Again…
I swear that there have been days where I wake up and think to myself, “Am I Bill Murray playing that role in the movie ‘Groundhog Day'?”
Do you remember that movie?? Bill Murray wakes up every morning at same time, steps into the same puddle of water, sees the same people…and relives that day over and over again.
It's the same thing, same result, same everything…every single day. Living the same life over and over again.
The questions I have for you is this. If you ever feel like you are living your own Groundhog Day,
“Are you HAPPY with it? Do you feel fulfilled? Is that enough for you?”
OR…does something need changing??
Jim Rohn used to say, “In order for things to change, you need to change.” I don't think anyone could legitimately argue with that statement and win.
If you're not happy with where you are heading…if life seems like the same old thing over and over again, you have to change something from the inside.
This post isn't the place to get into the nitty gritty on it, because it's going to require a substantial shift in your thinking, in order to change the behavior, the actions you take every day.
One thing I've done that has worked well for me is doing what I call “Shocking your Daily Routine.” It basically means this. You wake up tomorrow and you simply DO things differently than you usually do.
Here's an example of what I mean.
Your normal routine.
You wake up, pee, start the coffee maker, heat up the shower, scrub yourself in the same way with the same stuff, get dressed, drink your coffee, eat some cereal, read the paper, head to work…etc.
By “Shocking your Routine” it might look like this.
You wake up and stretch for 15-minutes. You read for 15-minutes, then go to the gym and do some cardio. You return home, shower, get dressed and drink some green tea. On your way to work, you listen to something different than you usually do, and perhaps take a little different route.
I'm not going to go into your entirely NEW day. Bottom line is that only you know if something needs changing. Nothing changes until you start changing. I can personally attest to that.
Whenever you are ready, the new you, new result is waiting…
