What's the point in making money if you don't save any of it?
Work your entire life and have nothing to show for it doesn't seem to make any sense to me. Yet…in network marketing, I see this as RAMPANT.
People go buy a bunch of crap they can't really afford and leverage themselves to the hilt. Yea…they have the flashy cars, jewelry, the boat, and the big house, but then when a storm comes, they are screwed.
What IF your check stopped coming in today? Would you still be able to survive, or would you have to start liquidating all of your assets just to pay your bills?
That doesn't seem like a really good option now, does it? Yet…I've seen it happen multiple times. Be smart. Save your money. Invest it. Save…as your dad said, “for a rainy day. Because…guess what? It always rains…even in the desert!
It makes me very sad when I talk to a person in their 30's, 40's or 50's who work, but don't have a penny to their name.
I will never, EVER forget this old, old man named Jack Parr who was driving a crappy car and worked for my family's radio station as a night time DJ. In fact…DJ is an overstatement. He didn't talk on the radio. All he did was watch tapes roll and insert commercials into a machine for minimum wage.
I met him when I helped my family out. One day he was walking…actually limping to his old beater car, and he turned to me and said, “Save your money kid. Don't be like me. SAVE your money. Put money aside. I'm too damned old for this, but I still have to do it, because I was stupid and spent all my money.”
I've actually never shared that story with anyone, but it left an indelible impression on me, as many other people have.
You've got to learn to PAY YOURSELF FIRST. Too many people pay everyone else for their hard work and forget to pay themselves. This is one of the best books you could ever read on the subject of creating riches in your life:
