What It Means To Lead By Example
What I'm about to share with you is one of the fastest ways to grow your network marketing business. This ONE THING has made me more money than anything else in this business.
What is it you ask? It's leading by example!
What this means is that you're doing what you want your team doing. Let me give you a few examples of what I mean.
- You're recruiting X number of people into the business each month.
- You're training X number of new reps each month.
- You're doing 3-way calls with your new people each month.
- You're doing live trainings each month.
Are you starting to see a pattern here? Good. When your team SEES you leading by example, something magical happens.
The people who want to change their life and build this business, start getting after it... in a BIG WAY!
Now, here's how to help them get there...
How To Set The Pace On Your Team
The best way for me to illustrate this would be to share with you a quick story. Couple months back a buddy of mine and I went on a 25 mile bike ride. I was on the bike for something like 5 hours, and this was my first time riding this long.
My buddy was leading the pack and I told him... "bro... don't leave me out here in the mountains man..." LOL. So what he did was set a pace (that for him was easy), that I could follow.
He would look back and make sure I was still there, but it wasn't easy for me... I was working hard to keep up. He knew just how much to push me that would cause me to keep cranking away on those pedals.
This is what we have to do as leaders in our network marketing business. We have to find the people who want to make things happen, then set the pace for them.
Once we've set the pace for them, it's time to have them step-up and take a full leadership role in their business.
When I first got started in this business, we had live presentations in front of real people in a room. I had been attending these for a while, and something strange happened at this one. Midway through the presentation we'd have a 5-minute water break.
This was designed to clear the negative energy out of the room. Durning this break, my buddy who was giving the presentation, turned to me and threw the keys. I caught them and looked at him, as he said... "Falcone, you're finishing the presentation... I'm going to open the next location".
Like that, he was out the door and my heart hit the floor. I was scared to death... I was sweeting, and freaking out. I knew the presentation and I wanted to be successful... so I pushed past the fear and finished the presentation.
We have to do this with our up-and-coming leaders. We have to create opportunities for them to step-up and make it happen.
